HomeSpace Society
HomeSpace Society is a Calgary-based non-profit dedicated to refurbishing, constructing, and managing affordable housing for vulnerable Calgarians. Their unique model pairs each housing project with a social service agency that provides residents with critical support services. This thoughtful, wraparound approach helps ensure that once residents are housed, they have the tools and connections to remain stable, safe, and supported.
In response to the growing demand for affordable housing, HomeSpace serves as a valuable resource for vulnerable Calgarians. Through their dedication, volunteer efforts, and creative solutions, HomeSpace revitalizes underutilized spaces, minimizes construction waste, and promotes sustainable urban development.
Our commitment
Recognizing the importance of a safe and warm place to call home, ATCO Energy believes it is our responsibility to assist local organizations like HomeSpace in addressing housing challenges and alleviating the impact of housing insecurity on families.
We're proud to partner with HomeSpace and do our part to help create safe and welcoming communities. Over the past three years, our team members have donated their time to HomeSpace to help tidy up, landscape, paint, and brighten up various properties. We've had the opportunity to assist in building a gazebo, landscaping exteriors, painting the interior of a four-story apartment building, adding colour to a family housing unit, and participating in yard cleanups. On June 26, our team eagerly rolled up their sleeves once again for a summer spruce-up.
The value of volunteering
Since 2023, we've dedicated over 740 hours to volunteering with HomeSpace, brightening the spaces of six of their housing properties.
Our efforts have enhanced living conditions for families and neighbours, creating enjoyable shared spaces, pleasant views, cleaner play areas, and improved environments for those calling these areas home. We're honored to harness our resources and collaborative spirit to empower the growth of resilient, vibrant communities.
Our team's dedication to volunteering stems from our supportive approach to employee engagement and work-life balance. We understand the value of our employees' time, which is why we're proud to support volunteering during regular working hours, offering one full workday of volunteering for all employees to participate in.
