What’s the Fixed Rate Plan?
This plan keeps things simple by offering fixed rates for both electricity and natural gas.
Fixed rates are, well, guaranteed! The rate you pay per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity and gigajoule (GJ) of natural gas won’t change for the duration of your contract. Only the amount of energy you use will impact your bill.

What is a Fixed Rate Plan?
Our Fixed Rate Plan locks in your energy rates for the entire length of your contract. Previously called our Guaranteed Rate Plan, it works the same way, giving you a guaranteed price for your electricity or natural gas so you don’t have to worry about market fluctuations.
Can my rate ever increase if I'm on a Fixed Rate Plan?
Your fixed energy rate won’t change for the entire term of your plan. The only exceptions are changes to government-approved charges, taxes, or fees, which are outside of ATCO Energy’s control and applied to all customers equally.
Can I switch from a Fixed Rate Plan to a Floating Rate Plan?
Yes! You can switch plans if your energy needs or preferences change. Contact us and we’ll walk you through your options, including all the steps involved in making the change.
What happens to my fixed rate after the term ends?
When your contract ends, you’ll have the option to renew at a new fixed rate or switch to a floating rate plan. If you don’t choose a new plan right away, you’ll automatically switch to our Floating Rate Plan but you’re free to move to one of our Fixed Rate Plans any time.
How do I know if a Fixed Rate Plan is right for me?
A Fixed Rate Plan is perfect if you value predictability and protection. If you’d rather take advantage of potential market dips, a Floating Rate Plan could be a better fit. You can also use our online plan selector to compare and choose.

Choose your plan
Choose a fixed or floating rate plan for 1, 2, 3, or 5 years. Our term rates are our guarantee to you. You’re free to switch or change most plans at any time.

Sign up
Signing up is easy. All you need is your home's address or Site ID (found on your current energy bill). Sign up online or by calling our customer care centre.
Step 3
No interruptions
When you switch to ATCO Energy, your energy doesn't get interrupted. Even when you move, we can move with you.

Relax
Using My Account, you can check your energy usage, pay bills online and connect with our energy advisors any time.
*Offer for new customers only who have not had an active site with ATCO Energy within the last 6 months. Eligible natural gas sites will be credited up to $200 towards natural gas energy charges plus the 36 cents/day gas administration charge per site during the promotional period of June 1, 2026, to September 30, 2026. You must maintain two active sites (1 natural gas and 1 electricity) with ATCO Energy and remain in good standing throughout the promotional period to receive and retain this promotion. If the minimum site requirement is not maintained, the free gas and admin fee credits will cease immediately. Standard rates and fees apply outside of the promotional period. This offer ends June 1, 2026 and may be modified or discontinued at our discretion.
2The quarterly $50 rebate program requires an active account and good financial standing for 90 days prior, with rebates being applied when a service is completed and expiring at the end of each quarter. Rebates cannot be combined with other quarterly rebates or carried forward to subsequent periods. Furnace Family Maintenance Plans subscriptions are not eligible to be covered by your quarterly rebate and are billed separately. This program may be modified or discontinued at our discretion. Additional terms and restrictions may apply.
Delivery related charges, taxes, monthly administration or daily flat fees for each electricity or natural gas site are extra. Distribution costs, taxes and miscellaneous charges are dependent on usage and service area and will remain applicable regardless of the retailer you choose.
